SC orders provinces to present reports on use of drugs in schools, colleges

LAHORE (92 News) – A three-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday ordered the four provinces to present their reports on the use of drugs in schools and colleges. During the suo motu notice, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar scores of children are using drugs. “From where the children are getting drugs?” he questioned. He remarked that three deaths have occurred due to use of drugs. “The use of drugs is the problem of the country. I had ordered the government and the CCPO to establish an institution. Where is the report in this regard?” he said. The CJP also ordered to launch a campaign to create awareness among children and parents. Talking to the media outside SC Lahore Registry, Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid said that rehabilitation centres are being established for addict children. She said that they would complete the paperwork regarding establishment of rehabilitation centres for drug addict children and present the report to the SC. Dr Yasmin Rashid said that they would try their best to establish the international standard centres at the earliest.
