SC orders Punjab IG to register a case of attempt on life of Imran Khan within 24 hours

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court on Monday ordered Punjab IGP Faisal Shahkar to register a case of attempt on the life of PTI chairman Imran Khan within 24 hours.

Hearing the plea for the registration of the case, Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked that the court will take a suo motu notice if the case was not registered within 24 hours and the IGP will be answerable to it.

He said that 90 hours after the incident had passed and how much time it will take. IGP Faisal Shahkar told the court that the provincial government had stopped him from registering the case.

The chief justice remarked that an attempt on the life of a national leader had been made and the police should understand the sensitivity of the matter. "In this way, the evidence could be changed." He ordered the police to investigate the case and collect the evidence and no one would interfere in the case.

Meanwhile, the court has given Imran Khan a week to submit the reply in the contempt of court case.
