SC orders to arrest culprits involved in Rahim Yar Khan temple attack

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) has on Friday ordered to quick arrest of those who are involved in the vandalizing of Hindu temple in Rahim Yar Khan on Friday.

Hearing the Suo Moto notice taken yesterday against the ransacking of Rahim Yar Khan temple of Hindu community, the top court The Chief Justice reprimanded the IG Punjab and the chief secretary.

"If the commissioner, deputy commissioner and DPO cannot work, remove them from their posts. The incident has defamed Pakistan at international level. Not a single suspect has been taken into custody despite passage of three days,” Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed said while giving remarks.

The SC ordered the concerned authorities to immediately arrest the suspects. "Not only the perpetrators behind vandalizing Hindu temple in Bhong be instantly arrested but made to pay for the rehabilitation of the Hindu worship place," it added.

Subsequently, the court sought a progress report from the IG and the chief secretary within a week

Earlier a day, soon after the report of Hindu temple pillaging made round on social media drawing ire across the board, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Gulzar Ahmed took yesterday a suo moto notice of the matter and arraigned the hearing for today.

The CJP summoned Punjab’s chief secretary and Inspector General of Police to appear before the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the case.

Earlier, the Ministry of Human Rights tweeted from its official account that it is in touch with Rahim Yar Khan police to ensure action is taken against perpetrators.
