SC orders to put name of K-Electric's CEO on ECL
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered to put name of K-Electric Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Monis Alvi on Exit Control List (ECL).
While hearing a case of prolong load-shedding in Karachi, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed has directed to register case against K-Electric over deaths in Karachi due to electrocution during Monsoon rain spell. He also ordered to conduct audit of the company.
While expressing anger over prolonged electricity outages in the metropolis, the top judge reprimanded the concerned authorities and remarked that people are severely suffering from this issue.
The chief justice remarked that the name of CEO Electric should be included in all the deaths due to electrocution in Karachi. "K-Electric has not done anything all over Karachi as earth wires have been cut all over teh city. Make a case of murder charges against them and the cases should be filed against the entire administration."
A previous day hearing, the top court expressed anger over prolonged load-shedding in the city. The court also summoned the K-Electric CEO immediately. The chief justice also remarked that there is no law and order in the Sindh.
CJP Gulzar Ahmed has remarked that eight to ten people are dying every day in Karachi and National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is doing nothing. Case should be registered against K-Electric CEO, the top judge stated.
The hearing was conducted after people living in Karachi are facing severe difficulties due to continuous electricity loadshedding in the metropolis.
Several feeders of K-Electric have been tripped following torrential monsoon rains in parts of Karachi. The enraged locals have demanded the local administration to take action to overcome the power outages.
