Case of senior journalist Arshad Sharif's murder registered on SC orders

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – On the orders of the Supreme Court, the Islamabad's Ramna police registered the case of the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif on Tuesday.

Waqar Ahmed, Khurram Ahmed and Tariq Wasi have been nominated in the case registered on the complaint of the police.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Supreme Court had ordered to register the case by tonight. The court also declared the medical report unsatisfactory, observing that the fact-finding committee report had not been submitted so far.

During the hearing of the suo motu notice of the murder of Arshad Sharif, Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial said that it was work of the government, not the SC, to waste the time in the matters pertaining to the investigations.

He ruled that any maltreatment of journalists will not be tolerated. "We will have to take each human life seriously. Journalists are the voice of truth. The government reserves the right to take action if the journalists tell a lie," he observed.

Meanwhile, the additional attorney general has assured to submit the report by tomorrow. Later, the court adjourned the hearing till tomorrow.
