KARACHI (92 News) - The Supreme Court on Saturday ordered to remove encroachments from roads and pavements within three days.
In the written verdict of the encroachments case at the Karachi Registry, the court ordered the federal and provincial governments to implement the orders. It also ordered the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to issue a public service message in this regard.
The verdict ruled that unluckily it was considered justified and rightful to occupy the open space or garden in front of a personal property. "The people have installed generators on the pavements. the federal and provincial governments even have established encroachments," it ruled.
The verdict ruled that no one has the power to hamper the free movement of citizens.
The SC also ordered all local governments to plant saplings along roads and look after them after conducted a survey.
