SC orders to stop transfers of investigation officers in high-profile cases

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered to stop transfers of the investigation officers in high-profile cases.

Hearing suo motu notice of the alleged interference in investigation agencies on Thursday, Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial remarked that the proceedings are not aimed at declaring someone an accused or making them feel ashamed.

"The objective of the court proceedings to maintain the transparency and credibility of the criminal justice system," he observed.

The court also ordered to seal the record of the FIA and the NAB prosecution. In addition, the court also directed not to withdraw any case from the court forum.

The court has sought a reply from the FIA DG and NAB DG. It also sought a reply from all relevant officers, including prosecutors.

Later, the case was adjourned till May 27.
