ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court (SC) has rejected the plea of PTI leader Faisal Vadwa seeking his restoration through the stay order.

During the hearing on Tuesday, Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial remarked that apparently Faisal Vawda had submitted a fake affidavit. "The court will have to observe the conduct of Fasial Vawda as well. However, the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) power to award someone lifetime disqualification is the matter of consideration," he observed.

A three-member headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard the plea.

However, the court has issued notices to the attorney general. Faisal Vawda had demanded the stay order against the election to be held for the Senate seat vacated by him on March 9.

The court questioned Waseem Sajjad, the counsel for Faisal Vadwa, said that how many people had been disqualified under Artcile 621(f) by the ECP.

Waseem Sajjad said: “The ECP has only disqualified my client for lifetime. Ruling of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to the ECP to investigate this matter is also illegal. The ECP is not a cout of law. The ECP does not have powers to disqualify for lifetime. The lifetime disqualification is equal to the penalty of death,” he contrnded.
