November 10, 2017
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) has on Friday rejected a petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan challenging the Electoral Reforms Act 2017. The apex court rejected the petition and directed PTI chairman Imran Khan to first approach the appropriate forum as the Supreme Court cannot be directly approached. The PTI chairman had challenged the Electoral Reforms Act 2017 in the apex court which paved way for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to be elected party president again. The petition filed by Imran Khan under Article 184/3 of the Constitution. Khan argued that the amendments in the Act were in violation of the constitution as a disqualified legislator cannot become the chief of a political party.
