ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected MQM leader Mustafa Kamal’s plea for immediate pardon in the contempt of court case.

Earlier, Senator Faisal Vawda and Mustafa Kamal appeared before the SC. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.

The court issued notices to all TV channels for airing the contemptuous press conference. The court also ordered the attorney general to collect content about contempt of court from the transcripts.

The chief justice questioned whether they had been made to sit here to pitch the people against each other. “Have we ever said that why someone has been given extension by the parliament? We have not stopped anyone from criticizing our verdicts. Everyone is free to do what he wants, but he should not tell a lie,” he added.

He observed that Mustafa Kamal had not tendered an apology in the press club. “The PEMRA has formulated a strange law, forbidding to report the judicial proceedings. It is injustice. We are not doing anything for the time being. Firstly, we will witness the conduct,” he added.

Counsel Farogh Naseem contended that Mustafa Kamal is ready to seek an apology in the press club if it is the condition.

The court adjourned the hearing until June 28.
