ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday rejected unconditional apology of Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nehal Hashmi in contempt of court case. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar was conducting hearing of contempt of court case against the former senator. During the proceedings, Nehal Hasmi appeared before the court and apologized to the court and asked for forgiveness to which the CJP while lashing out at the PML-N leader asked if whatever he said was merciful. “How can you appeal for leniency, adding that if he was in Hashmi's place, he would have drowned in shame, Justice Saqib Nisar observed. He remarked that he (Hashmi) not only committed contempt of court but abused the court as well. The CJP summoned lawyers to give their remarks in this regard to which Rasheed A Rizvi said that the PML-N leader’s statement could not be defended. The court adjourned the hearing till tomorrow.
