SC rejects petitions against LHC verdict about candidates' disqualification

ISLAMABAD (92 News) –  The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the petitions against Lahore High Court's (LHC) decision of disqualifying candidates from contesting elections. A two member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the LHC verdict of disqualifying candidates from contesting elections case. The petitions filed by an independent candidate from NA-64 Chakwal Sardar Abbas and a PTI candidate from PP 23 Sardar Abbas Akbar were dismissed. Pleas of some other candidates including an independent candidate Diwan Ashiq and Syed Muhammad Basharat seeking permission to contest the elections were also rejected by the apex court on various grounds.
