SC to hear NAB appeal against suspension of Sharifs' sentences today

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A three-member bench of the Supreme Court will the NAB appeal against suspension of sentences of the Sharif family in the Avenfield reference at 1pm on Tuesday. Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have submitted papers of attorney (vakalatnamas) to the SC. Khawaja Haris will represent former premier Nawaz Sharif, while Amjad Pervaiz will be counsel for Maryam Nawaz. Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam and son-in-law retired Capt Safdar were awarded 10 years, seven years and one year imprisonment, respectively, in the Avenfield reference on July 6. The However, Islamabad High Court suspended their sentences and gave a detailed judgment on the petitions filed by the Sharifs on Sept 19.
