December 19, 2018
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Accountablity Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that NAB chairman signed references against Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif and former federal secretary Fawad Hasan Fawad in the Ashiana Housing case. A two-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Azmat Saeed heard the case related to the bail pleas of accused involved in Ashiana scandal. The NAB prosecutor told the court that its chairman has signed on the references, and they will be filed in the coming days. Accused lawyer adopted a stance that the reference has been filed against their clients including Bilal Qadwae, Imtiaz Haider, Munir Zia and Ali Sajjad. He argued that the Bilal Qadwae, Imtiaz Haider completed their remand and nothing found against them during the investigations. The lawyer pleaded to fix the case for hearing. Following to this, Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that the court does not want to murder the justice, adding that the person should not be in prison who doesn’t deserve. The justice said that the complete case would be heard after filling reference. The NAB investigative officer also summoned in the next hearing and the court fixed hearing after winter vacations. Shehbaz and Fawad are under NAB's custody in the Ashiana Iqbal housing scheme case. The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) president was arrested when he appeared before NAB to record his statement in the Punjab Saaf Pani Company case. According to NAB officials, Fawad wrongfully awarded the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme's contract to 'favourites', illegally ordered the shifting of nine CNG stations and also worked in a private bank from 2005 to 2006 without official permission.
