SC transfers Tayyaba torture case to IHC

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has on Tuesday forwarded the torture case of minor housemaid Tayyaba to the Islamabad High Court (IHC). A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Justice Saqib Nisar resumed hearing of the case. During the proceedings, Advocate Asma Jahangir said that the case can be shifted to High Court under RPC’s article 526 to which the Chief Justice remarked if the case can be forwarded to IHC for investigation. The CJP asked the Advocate General about the challan to which he said that the submission of challan was delayed due to pre-arrest bail of the accused and assured to present it till Wednesday. In the challan, additional sessions judge wife Maheen Zafar has been declared as prime accused while the judge has also been alleged of negligence. The court further rejected the request of Tayyaba’s parents regarding her custody. The court remarked that the child will live in Sweet Home until the final verdict of the case. Justice Saqib Nisar remarked that the girl’s parents can meet her at Sweet Home if they want.
