ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has said that the Scrutiny Committee's report is a damning indictment of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In a tweet on Wednesday, he said: "Truth has a strange way of exposing people. The Scrutiny Committee's report is a damning indictment of Imran Khan. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been running away from the foreign funding case for last seven years and now we know why. The facade of 'Sadiq aur Ameen' has been shredded into pieces."

In a statement, PDM chairman Maulana Fazalur Rehman said that the ECP Scrutiny Committee is an eye-opener for all. "Several suspicious institutions funded Imran Khan from abroad. Now Imran Khan is busy protecting the interests of his financers," he maintained.

On Tuesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) released the report of Scrutiny Committee on the PTI funding. It ruled that discrepancy existed between the income and expenditures of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from 2009 to 2013.

"The PTI had concealed 63 bank accounts from the ECP. During the five years, the PTI bank accounts received funds of more than Rs1.6426 billion," the report adds.

The report said that the PTI had not disclosed the ledgers of private banks as well. "The receipts presented by the audit firm have no relevance with the bank accounts."
