ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday asserted that the Supreme Court’s (SC) fees reduction order is not only for 22 schools but also applicable to all private schools across Pakistan. It is pertinent to mention here that in its December 13 ruling, the top court had ordered all private schools charging above Rs5,000 in monthly fee to cut the fee by 20 percent. https://92newshd.tv/sc-orders-all-private-schools-to-cut-fee-by-20-per-cent-2/#.XC8mCWlS8dU A bench headed by the chief justice heard the case. During the hearing, the chief justice remarked that the SC ruling applies to all private schools in the country charging above Rs5,000 per month. “If there is any ambiguity in the order then hand us the file, we will read it out,” he added. “The administrations of schools began to shut down the schools when we ordered them to reduce the fee,” the chief justice observed. https://92newshd.tv/fia-raids-seizes-record-of-private-schools-charging-heavy-fees/#.XC8mCmlS8dU In its ruling last month, the SC also barred private schools from increasing the annual fee by more than five percent. The court order stated that any hike of more than five percent in the school fee would have to be approved by a regulatory board. https://92newshd.tv/fia-raids-faisalabad-private-schools-after-sc-order/#.XC8mDGlS8dU The order further stated that in any case, any increase in the fee cannot be more than eight percent. – SC orders FIA to unfreeze Bahria Town’s ceased accounts – A bench headed by the CJP also ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to unfreeze the bank accounts of Bahria Town and Malir Development Authority (MDA). “When did the court order to freeze Bahria Town’s bank accounts,” the CJP questioned as he expressed resentment over FIA’s action. “The court had only ordered to monitor the real estate company’s accounts.” Relaying an analogy of the FIA crossing the limit of its powers, the chief justice said, “We had also passed a judgment regarding a school case. The court did not slash the fees of only 27 schools but the court order covered schools throughout the country.” Expressing anger over the investigation agency’s action, the CJP said, “Why have you people become so enthusiastic? The court ordered ceasing record of the schools and you people closed them.”
