Briefing the media about decisions taken by the NCC, Minister for Planning Asad Umar said that the forum had endorsed all recommendations of Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood.

He said that the meeting had decided not to open the closed restaurants. "However, there will be no ban on open air restaurants," he added.

He said that the second wave of coronavirus can be dangerous than the first one. "Several responsible people do not apprehend the situation. Still big congregations are being held," he said.

Prime Minister's Special Assistant on National Health Dr Faisal Sultan said that the second wave of coronavirus is spreading more fast than the previous one. "A significant increase has been witnessed in the death rate in Pakistan," he maintained.

He said that 2,900 new cases have been reported during the last 24 hours. He said Pakistan has successfully overcome the first wave of the pandemic due to observance of a disciplined response to the virus by strictly following the SOPs.
