LAHORE (92 News) The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in Mianwali, Bahawalpur, and Faisalabad for seven days (October 1 to 7), banning political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, demonstrations, and protests in the districts.
Apparently, the decision to impose Section 144 was taken in response to a protest call by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on October 2 in the said districts.
According to the notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, Section 144 has been imposed on the recommendation of the district administration.

It has also been decided to deploy Rangers in Mianwali district. Two companies of Rangers will be deployed in the district from October 1 to October 3.
The authorities concerned say that Section 144 has been imposed to maintain law and order and protect lives and property of the people.
The ban was also imposed in view of the threats of terrorism in the region. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation to avoid any untoward incident.
