All 33 terrorists killed, two security officials martyred as Bannu CTD compound cleared

BANNU (92 News) - Security forces completed the operation to clear the Bannu Counter-Terrorism Department compound on Tuesday.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif told the National Assembly that all 33 terrorists who had held the CTD centre hostage were killed during the operation.

He said that two security officers were martyred and 10-15 were injured in the operation. "Our brave SSG jawans have freed all hostages," he declared.

The minister said that the SSG commandoes had launched the operation at 12:30pm and the compound was cleared at 2:30pm. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had failed to maintain the law and order in the province. "The siege of the Bannu CTD office for three days is the failure of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government," he added.

Khawaja Asif said that the resurge of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a matter of concern. "We are getting information that terrorists are active from across the border. Imran Khan has held the entire government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hostage," he opined.
