Security forces killed 566 terrorists in 18,736 intelligence-based operations across country in 2023

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Taking effective steps against terrorism, security forces killed 566 terrorists in 18,76 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted across the country in 2023.

Security forces arrested 5,161 terrorists in these operations. The evidence of recent surge in terrorist incidents goes back to terrorist sanctuaries present in Afghanistan.

During this year, security forces also killed several most wanted terrorists. Owing to the effective operations, several key commanders belonging to the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), including Gulzar Imam alias Shambay and Sarfraz Ahmed Bungulzai, joined the national mainstream by laying down their arms and leaving terrorist activities.

In Balochistan, 15,063 intelligence-based operations were conducted and 109 terrorists were sent to hell. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,942 IBOs were conducted and 447 terrorists were killed. Security forces conducted 190, 14 and 1,987 operation in Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Sindh respectively. Ten terrorists were sent to hell in Sindh.

In the war against terrorism, the armed forces, law-enforcement agencies and people rendered invaluable sacrifices. Over 1,000 people, including 260 Army officers and jawans, were martyred in the terrorist attacks.

The Pakistan Army took innumerable steps to establish peace in the country. Now it is being hoped that peace and stability will prevail in the country in future. The armed forces, with the support the nation, will continue the war against terrorism till elimination of the last terrorist.

In the coming year, security forces along with the law enforcement agencies will continue the war against terrorism with renewed resolve and strategy.
