ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the opposition has been seeking proposals of the opposition on the electronic voting machine (EVM) for the last 18 months.

Talking to MNAs and senators from the allied parties during lunch on Wednesday, he said that the government wants to hold fair elections. "Everyone knows what happens in the elections. Double stamps are put on the ballot papers. We are introducing the EVM to end this dispute," he maintained.

The prime minister said that the PTI knew rigging was done in the 2013 elections. "There are production of the corrupt system. I have no personal benefit. We want to leave a better Pakistan for future," he added.

He said that it was regrettable the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was also launching a campaign against the EVM. “Always western interests become a hurdle before the reforms. The use of EVM will eliminate bogus votes,” he added.
