April 22, 2019
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari termed on Monday that ‘selected’ Prime Minister Imran Khan cannot hide his incompetence from ousting ministers. Addressing a National Assembly session, the PPP chairman lashed out at the incumbent government and he called former finance minister Asad Umar as ‘an educated but illiterate’ person [parha likha jahil]. He also referred prime minister a ‘selected’ leader. It is pertinent to mention here that Bilawal’s remarks on PM Khan and Asad Umar triggered ruckus in the parliament and the PTI MNAs left their seats and chanted slogans. Bilawal also said that the new federal cabinet, calling it a combination of Musharraf and PPP’s teams, adding that the government appointed Zardari’s finance minister after removal of PTI’s. Criticizing the policies of the PTI-led government, Bilawal asked the treasury benches why they sacked Asad Umar, Fawad ‘bhi’ Shehryar Afridi and Amir Kiyani. Bilawal said that the PPP was not scared of dictators like Ayub and Musharraf, and will remain steadfast against the puppet government. “We will continue to expose their anti-poor policies,” he mentioned. “The government thinks we will get scared with such threats. They are mistaken, the PPP was not scared of dictators like Ayub and Musharraf, why would these puppets scare us?,” the PPP chairman explained. He threatened that if “I, as my party's parliamentary leader, am not allowed to speak, then your prime minister will also not be allowed to speak. We will not even let him enter in the building.” NA Speaker Asad Qaiser expunged both of Bilwal’s remarks from the record of the proceedings, reminding the PPP leader that this house has elected him; he cannot be called selected. PPP lawmakers returned the treasury benches’ uproar during Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan’s rebuttal by approaching his seat and tearing up the session’s agenda. Later, the NA speaker adjourned the session until 11am on Tuesday.
