Senate election: PPP terms ordinance for open ballot as 'attack on constitution'

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has termed an ordinance for open ballot in the Senate election as an 'attack on constitution'.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, PPP Senators Sherry Rehman and Raza Rabbani said that an amendment to the constitution was prerogative of the parliament.

"The government is making the parliament an ordinance factory. It has no two-thirds majority for the constitutional amendment. It seems that the PTI MPs are not under control of PM Imran Khan," they added.

They said that the cabinet is trying to pressurize the Supreme Court by bringing the ordinance. "It is PDM's joint decision to participate in the Senate and by-election. The government has not tried to evolve consensus with regard to the constitutional amendment," they added.
