Senior journalist Athar Mateen martyred by dacoits in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – A senior journalist Athar Mateen was matryed by dacoits near Five Star Chowrangi area of Karachi on Friday.

According to police, two suspects on a motorcycle were robbing a citizen. Athar Mateen hit the motorcycle of the accused with his car. The accused fell down but soon recovered and opened fire on the vehicle. Athar Mateen sustained bullet wounds and died on the spot.

Later, the dacoits snatched a motorcycle from a citizen and fled. 

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah have taken notice of the incident.

The governor has directed Additional IG Karachi to take immediate action for the arrest of the accused. “Police should ensure protection of life, property and honor of the citizens. The Sindh government should take practical steps to end lawlessness.”

The chief minister has also demanded an immediate report from Additional IG Karachi, saying that the killers should be arrested immediately.
