Funeral prayers for martyred Additional IG KP offered in Peshawar

PESHAWAR (92 News) –The funeral prayers of martyred Additional Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Ashraf Noor was offered in Police Lines Peshawar on Friday. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Nazir Ahmad Butt, IG police and others high ranking civil and military officials attended the Namaz-e-Janaza. Later, his body was sent to his native village in Skardu for burial. Earlier, a bomb explosion in the provincial capital’s Hayatabad area near Zarghooni Mosque had killed Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) and his gunman in the latest in a series of attacks on police. The miscreants targeted of the vehicle of Additional Inspector General of Police Ashraf Noor through a bomb when he was heading towards his office, killing the AIG Police and his guard on the spot and wounding six police personnel. He was going from his home to his office when the blast occurred. The blast shook the entire area and the AIG Police’s vehicle was reportedly damaged completely. Heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies reached the spot and cordoned off the area and launched investigation into the incident. The bodies were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex. In separate statements, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have lauded the sacrifices of Police personnel in the fight against terrorism and said that such acts of militants can not deter our law-enforcement agencies and the nation in taking the fight against terrorism to its logical conclusion. They have prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss. Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir and State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb have also condemned the blast and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.
