Senior politicians' recent statements about Peshawar corps commander are very inappropriate: DG ISPR
RAWALPINDI (92 News) - DG ISPR Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar has said that the recent statements of senior politicians about the Peshawar corps commander are very inappropriate.
In a statement on Thursday, he said that such statements have negative effect on the morale and dignity of the army and leadership.
"Senior national political leadership should avoid such controversial statements," he advised.
The DG ISPR said that the army should not be dragged into politics.
"The army has nothing to do with politics and it should be kept away from political conversation. Our all leadership is focused on its responsibilities. The army is ready to defend the motherland all time," he added.
He said that the procedure to appoint the army chief is clear in the constitution. "Discussing unnecessarily the designation of the army chief is to make it controversial. Under the law and constitution, the army chief will be appointed," he added.
