Sentence can be up to 14 years if cypher was used for political purposes: Azam Nazir Tarar

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has said that up to 14 years sentence can be awarded if the cypher was used for political purposes.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he said that a life term can be awarded if diplomatic documents are deliberately lost for personal objectives.

He said that the PTI chairman had caused a damage to the national security. "Cypher was used for political purposes by ignoring the national security," he added.

The minister said that the government is striving to restore the relations that deteriorated due to the cypher narrative. "The PTI chairman can be arrested for not cooperating in the investigations," he maintained.

He said that the cypher investigations would held on merit.

Tarar said that the accused convicted in the May 9 incidents would have the right to appeal.
