THARPARKAR (92 News) – Seven children died of malnutrition in Mithi Civil Hospital on Thursday, increasing the death toll to 39 in January.

The deceased include Ghansham, Daulat, Ismail, Manthar, Sonahro, Lanju and a newborn.

Locals told 92 News that additional staff appointed in hospitals left after the visit of the chief justice. They said that children are dying due to diseases related to food shortage in the area.

They said that there was an acute shortage of staff and medicines in government hospitals in Tharparkar.

In 2020, as many as 625 children were killed due to malnutrition in Tharparkar.
