Seven-year-old girl saved from ‘Vani’ in Depalpur

DEPALPUR (92 News) – The police foiled the marriage of a seven-year-old girl under the Vani custom in Tillah Kamboh, Depalpur, on Wednesday. Muhammad Naeem, son of Muhammad Yasin, had contracted the marriage of his choice with Nasreen of the same area a few months back. A punchayat decided to marry off Naeem’s seven-year-old sister Sajida to Nasreen’s 30-year-old brother Fateh Muhammad a few days back. On Wednesday, Fateh Muhammad with wedding guests was taking Sajida to his house when the police chased them after getting information. The police arrested the bridegroom near Tara Singh on Pipli Pahar Road, while wedding guests managed to escape.
