Several departments, officers showed negligence in Murree tragedy: report

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Several departments and officers showed negligence that resulted into the Murree tragedy.

According to a report prepared by the investigation committee, the people riding the vehicles died due to suffocation or heart failure. The gas returned to the vehicles due to burying of silencers in snow.

The report says the administration engaged 16 machine at one spot to report snow. Dozens of people trapped in snow sought help from the Rescue 1122, which could not be provided to them.

The report further says that the behaviour of the administration was non-serious and it took action when the situation deteriorated.

According to sources, high-ranking officers did not participate in the meetings held in November and December. Moreover, the Punjab Highways Mechanical Wing did not follow the SOPs. The staff deployed in Murree was absent from duty.
