Several forces don’t want peace in Afghanistan even today: FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that even today several forces do not want peace in Afghanistan. Speaking in the Senate on Wednesday, he said that Pakistan does not want India’s security role in Afghanistan. “The first step towards peace was not easy. Several hurdles hit the US-Taliban agreement,” he said. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that only Afghans will have to resolve the Afghanistan issue. “The agreement is not only a piece of paper. It will also be endorsed by the UN Security Council,” he declared. He said that Afghan soil should not be used against Pakistan. “The US and Iran do not have good relations. We have good relations with Iran. We are ready to pave the way for good relations between Iran and the US,” he said. FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the Afghanistan government faces several challenges. “Abdullah Abdullah was rejected in the recent elections.” Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi phoned Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif and expressed his grief over the loss of precious lives due to coronavirus. He assured Iran full cooperation in this regard. Both foreign ministers agreed to jointly work against coronavirus. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi thanked the Iranian counterpart for raising the voice against Indian atrocities.
