ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Several Pakistanis have been arrested from Madina Munawara over the Masjid-e-Nabwi (SAW) incident.

This was confirmed by the Saudi embassy in Islamabad on Friday.

The Saudi Embassy spokesperson said that some Pakistanis have been arrested for not respecting the sanctity of the holy place. He said that the protesters had been taken into custody for 'violating the regulations' and 'disrespecting' the sanctity of the holy mosque.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is in Madina Munawwara on a three-day official visit. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Federal Ministers Bilawal Bhutto, Miftah Ismail, Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Khawaja Asif, Chaudhary Saalik Hussain, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Mohsin Dawar.

During their visit to the Masjid-e-Nabvi (SAW), some Pakistani pilgrims started chanting slogans as soon as they saw the prime minister.

In a video, the pilgrims could be seen chanting abusive slogans against federal ministers Marriyum Aurangzeb and Shahzain Bugti when they were being escorted by Saudi guards. A pilgrim was also seen pulling Bugti's hair from behind.
