KARACHI (92 News) – The closing and prize distribution ceremony of UMA Chief of the Naval Staff Asian Tour Open Golf championship 2018 was held at the picturesque Karachi Golf Club on Monday. Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat was the chief guest on the occasion. The four days long championship was held from 27-30 September, 2018 and the event was open to various categories. The categories included 36 holes each for KGC professionals/ caddies, senior professionals and junior professionals. 18 holes matches were played for senior amateurs and ladies each, 9 holes for veterans and 72 holes each for professionals and amateurs. Prize money of the event was Rs 5.0 million. The prize purse included Rs 0.5 million for the match of KGC professionals/caddies preceding the main event. In addition, prize for hole-in-one included Suzuki Ciaz Car as first hole-in-one and Golf set as 2nd Hole-in-one. The golf event attracted more than 600 golfers from across the nation and featured the cream of national golf, in all categories. Participants of UMA CNS Asian Tour Open Golf Championship 2018, thanked the organizers and sponsors of the championship particularly Pakistan Navy for providing excellent golfing opportunity to the golf enthusiasts and also paid special gratitude for their support to promote golf in the country. The ceremony was attended by a large number of dignitaries from armed forces of Pakistan, civil organizations and golfers of the country. Besides defending maritime frontiers of motherland, Pakistan Navy has always been cognizant of promoting sports at inter-services, national and international levels. In this connection, conduct of such championships marks yet another opportunity for the spirited golfers to demonstrate their skills and craft for promotion of Golf in the country. Further, upcoming UMA CNS Asian Tour Open Golf Championship 2018 will be held from 10 to 14 October at the same venue and will herald the return of international golf to Pakistan after a gap of 11 years.
