LAHORE/BEIJING (92 News) – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday addressed first session of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) via video-link. In his address, the chief minister said that overseas Pakistanis are grand ambassadors of the country. “The Punjab government has formed the OPC to address the issues of Pakistanis living abroad,” he said. Shahbaz Sharif said that the commission has been giving total administrative and financial autonomy. He also approved the demand of the commission to set up a panel of lawyers to address local issues of the expatriate Pakistanis, and to organize road-shows of the commission in different countries. passport1 MEETING WITH CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTER: Meanwhile, the Punjab chief minister met the Chinese Foreign Minster Wang Yi in Beijing. Matters of mutual interest relating to cooperation in different fields were discussed in the sitting. The Chinese foreign minister said the Chinese government considers Pakistan’s problems as its own. “The people of Pakistan will find us standing by their side in every field,” he said Wang Yi praised Pakistan’s resolve against terrorism saying that the country is going in the right direction in its fight against terrorism. Shahbaz Sharif, while indicating towards the long-awaited visit of the Chinese president, said that the people of Pakistan “are anxiously waiting for the Chinese president’s visit to Pakistan”.
