Shehbaz Sharif reaches Lahore, self-isolates at residence
ISLAMABAD/LAHORE (92 News) – Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif reached Islamabad from London by PIA flight (PK-786) on Sunday morning.
Upon his arrival, he was screened at the airport. Party leaders, including Marriyum Aurangzeb and Atta Tarar, welcomed him.
Talking to the media at airport, Shehbaz Sharif said that coronavirus situation has worsened across the world.
Later, he reached Lahore by Motorway and self-isolated himself at his residence at Model Town.
The 68-year-old returned to Islamabad late on Saturday night via a PIA flight.
The opposition leader, later left for his home city Lahore from Islamabad and reached at his residence in Model Town in the provincial capital city.
This was one of the national flag carrier’s last five flights that allowed to touch down Pakistan as all international flights have been suspended to the country for two weeks in the wake of multiplying cases of COVID-19.
Shehbaz had flown to the UK in November last year after Nawaz was granted bail in the Al-Azizia reference by the Islamabad High Court on October 29, 2019.
Earlier in a video message before his departure, Shehbaz Sharif said that coronavirus has wreaked havoc across the world. “May Allah Almighty protect each house against the virus. I pray may Allah save each mother, father and youth against the virus,” he prayed.
Shehbaz Sharif said that he wanted to return to Pakistan so that he may be with the people during this difficult time. “My brother and leader Nawaz Sharif has to undergo a heart surgery and I was staying there for this purpose,” he said.
The PML-N president said that he had sought permission from Nawaz Sharif to return Pakistan when heard news about the closure of airspace. “Nawaz Sharif allowed me to leave for Pakistan, saying it is my top duty. Insha Allah, I am returning home. All people know about the diagnosis of coronavirus. Being a Pakistan, a political personality and the opposition leader, it is my job to perform my duty,” he maintained.
Before his departure, he met Nawaz Sharif and his mother Shamim Begum who bid him farewell. He is arriving in Islamabad by PIA’s flight (PK-786) at 5:30am. He also obtained a certificate from Harley Street Clinic before his departure.
The PML-N president has been in London with Nawaz Sharif who is undergoing medical treatment after he was released on bail by the Lahore High Court (LHC) and allowed to fly abroad on the basis of critical health conditions.
