Shaheed Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life for democracy: Bilawal

RAIWIND (92 News) – Criticizing the incumbent rulers, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life for the democracy. Addressing a workers’ convention in Punjab’s Raiwind, the PPP chairman said that freedom from India was not taken for becoming slaves of any Imran Niazi. He also said that the party will observe the death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi on Dec 27. “No one is free in today’s Pakistan. The PPP has been protesting against ‘selections’ since a very long time,” he said. He stressed that the source of power lies in supremacy of public’s wishes. The PPP chairman said that the puppet rulers are governing the country, adding that cases are being registered against everyone including student unions who try to protest. Earlier, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that democracy is the best revenge. Reacting to the special court verdict in the high treason case on Tuesday, he said: “Democracy is the best revenge. Jiye Bhutto.”

On Tuesday, a three-member bench of the special court headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and comprising of Justice Nazar Akbar of the Sindh High Court (SHC) and Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC announced the short verdict. However, one of the judge dissented from the sentence. According to the short verdict, Pervez Musharraf had violated the constitution on November 3, 2007. It has been stated in the verdict that the violation of the constitution is proved against Pervez Musharraf and he is awarded death penalty under Article 6. The detailed judgment will be announced within 48 hours.
