ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the government has totally failed during five months. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, he said that people are without electricity and gas as there was no crisis of the commodities. “I am responsible for bringing LNG in the country. The NAB should question me if it wants to question someone. The position will be clear,” he said, adding that the energy crisis would have not been solved had they not brought LNG. He asked the government to explain the reasons for bringing the mini budget. “The government has only one option – an increase in the growth rate,” he maintained. The PML-N leader said that they want an improvement in economy. “It is not in the benefit of the country to impose extra taxes. We had taken growth to five percent from just two percent in five years,” he said. Shahid Abbasi said that the name of a person is placed on the ECL if they want to pressurize him. He demanded that the military courts matter should be discussed in the parliament. Former finance minister Miftah Ismail said that destruction of economy is not an ordinary matter. “The GDP deficit has increased to Rs 1,000 billion,” he said. He said that the government has taken the loan of Rs 1,400 billion from the SBP, increasing it to Rs 2,240 billion. “The large scale manufacturing has witnessed negative growth first time during 35 years. The stock exchange has suffered a loss of US$45 billion,” he said.
