Shahzeb Murder Case: Deceased’s father denies taking blood money

KARACHI (92 News) – In a sudden turn of events in Shahzaib murder case, the father of deceased opened up a new Pandora box denying taking money in the name of blood money (diyat). Talking to 92 News, he said that they forgave the murderer of his son due to pressure, adding that he wants justice. Aurangzeb, father of deceased Shahzaib expressed sorrow over the verdict of the Sindh High Court (SHC), adding that consultations with legal experts were underway to file an appeal against the court judgment. He also denied reports of leaving the country and settling abroad. Earlier on Tuesday, the Sindh High Court set aside the sentences awarded by an anti-terrorism court to Shahrukh Jatoi and other accused in Shahzeb murder case. Twenty-year-old Shahzeb Khan, son of a DSP, was shot dead on the night of December 24, 2012, in Karachi’s Defence Housing Society. The incident had sparked widespread outrage across the country and garnered media attention, prompting the then Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take Suo Motu notice of the murder. Jatoi and his friend Siraj Talpur were sentenced to death while his younger brother Sajjad Talpur and their cook Ghulam Murtaza Lashari were awarded life in prison by an anti-terrorism court.
