KARACHI (92 News) - Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon termed the call of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) for shutter-down strike today as deplorable. In a statement late Saturday, the minister said the budget unveiled by provincial government is ‘people-friendly’ as opposed to "anti-people", adding that he was surprised over MQM's reaction to the budget. "The party gave protest call without even going over the budget," he said. The provincial information minister was of the view that the shutter-down strike will deal a detrimental blow to the economy and cause affliction to the laborers. "The call is wholly uncalled-for," he said. "The masses should denounce any pressure and open their businesses of their own accord." Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhary said that shutter-down strikes, sit-ins and others protests are no solution to political and other problems. "Jamming the cities, staging sit-ins, and calling for shutter-down strikes every other day over political or nonpolitical grievances, sometimes insignificant, only jeopardize a democratic society," he said.
