ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar remarked on Tuesday that the trial of former minister and Pakistan Peoples' Party leader Sharjeel Memon will be transferred in Punjab. Commenting on his earlier visit to Sharjeel’s hospital room, Justice Nisar said that Memon’s sub-jail in Karachi as if he (Memon) is living in the presidential suite. He added that it was the first that he saw a sub-jail which was better than most suites in a hotel. “Whether someone consumed alcohol or not, I found the bottles, and some people sealed the bottles which somehow then contained olive oil and honey.” The CJP further questioned that who took the samples and who conducted the tests. He added that someone must have changed the samples. "If I were to investigate. I would have arrested Memon and then conducted the tests by myself," CJP asserted. Justice Nisar added that as the provincial government is not cooperating, Sharjeel will be transferred to Punjab and further remarked that judges should not worry as the Constitution grants them “immense power” to enforce judgments. Earlier on Saturday, CJP Nisar had paid a surprise visit to hospital rooms of three political prisoners including Sharjeel Inam Memon, Hassan Lawai and Abdul Ghani Majeed, the son of Omni Group owner Anwar Majeed. According to the CJP, he found drugs, cigarettes and liquor in Memon’s hospital room. Following this incident, Memon was shifted from the hospital room to Karachi Central Prison and his blood samples were drawn while his room was sealed. A case was lodged against Memon at Boat Basin police station, his driver and two servants.
