Shaukat Tarin elected senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin has been elected as senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He bagged 87 votes, out of total votes 122, cast during the polling. Nine votes were rejected. However, 22 members, including Opposition Leader Akram Durrani, Provincial Minister Shah Muhammad and Inayatullah, did not vote.

A majority of lawmakers who did not participate in the polling belong to the opposition.

Meanwhile, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, Deputy Chairman Mirza Muhammad Afridi and Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed have congratulated Shaukat Tarin on his success.
