SHC approves pre-arrest bail of Khursheed’s sons, alleged frontman

KARACHI (92 News) – The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday approved pre-arrest bail of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Khursheed Shah’s two sons and alleged frontman till October 16. Due to the fear of arrest by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khursheed’s sons and frontman approached the SHC for pre-arrest bail. Farrukh Shah and Zareeq Shah along with their lawyers moved bail petitions in the SHC requesting it to grant them pre-arrest bail in order to avoid their arrest at the hands of the NAB probing an assets beyond means case against their father. Separately, an alleged frontman of the PPP leader, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, also filed a bail plea, stating that he is ready to be part of the bureau’s probe. He pleaded that he will be granted bail before arrest. Later, the SHC granted bail two sons of Khursheed Shah and frontman and forbid the bureau to arrest till October 8. On Thursday, Khursheed Shah, who is in the custody of the NAB, underwent a medical check-up at Poly Clinic. He was admitted to hospital after he complained of pain in stomach and difficulty in breathing. However, his ECG and blood pressure were declared normal. The medical board conducted his check-up in Poly Clinic’s Cardiac Ward. The doctors, however, did not allow PPP leader to met Syed Khurshid Shah. Earlier, an accountability court (AC) in Islamabad approved two-day transit remand of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) senior leader Khursheed Shah in assets beyond known sources of income case. Khursheed Shah will be shifted to Sukkur for investigation. The NAB prosecutor had requested for three-day transit remand. “How much time will it take to fly to Sukkur,” asked Judge Bashir. To this, the NAB investigating officer said they will take the PPP stalwart on the first available flight to Sukkur.  The court then granted two-day transit remand of the PPP leader to NAB. Khursheed Shah faces the charge of possessing assets beyond known sources of income and having ‘benami’ properties. The NAB had summoned Khurshid Shah on Wednesday, but he excused from appearing before the NAB. After his arrest, the PML-N and the PPP boycotted the National Parliamentary Conference.
