KARACHI (92 News) – The Sindh High Court (SHC) has declared the the transfer notifications of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Khadim Hussain Rind and Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Rizwan as null and void. During the hearing, the high court remarked that both transfers were illegal as official procedure was not followed. The court further said that the provincial government cannot transfer police officials without consulting the inspector general of police (IGP). In the petition, the petitioner stated that the Sindh government had transferred 80 police officers including the DIG and SP without informing the IGP, thus violating its own laws. In the previous hearing, the SHC had suspended the transfer notifications of both officials during the previous hearing and nullified them today. Earlier on Jan 20, the SHC stopped the Sindh government to transfer Inspector General (IG) of Police Kaleem Imam. According to the court orders, the provincial government cannot change or remove the IG without reply and consultations of the federal government. Kaleem Imam will serve as IG of Sindh till the reply form establishment division. The Sindh government should take action according to the law. The additional advocate general adopted a stance that they did not change the IG till now. The court issued a stay order against provincial cabinet’s decision of transferring Kaleem Imam and forwarded notices to both the federal and the Sindh governments. The SHC directed both parties to submit their replies till next hearing. The SHC remarked that the provincial government apparently did not consult the federation before removing the IG.
