LAHORE (92 News) -An accountability court Friday sent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Hamza Shehbaz to jail on 14-day judicial remand.

Hamza, who is opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, had appeared before the AC along with his father Shehbaz Sharif in the Ramzan sugar mills case.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had requested for an extension in Hamza's remand, however, the court rejected its plea, sending the PML-N leader to jail.

The court ordered Hamza and Shehbaz to be presented before the court on July 20.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza had appeared before the accountability court.

Hamza was produced before the court after nine-day physical remand by the NAB officials who sought further remand.

The judge, Naeem Arshad Malik, reserved the decision in the case. Strict security measures were put in place around the court premises.

A large number of PML-N activists reached outside the court to have glimpses of their leaders.

Both the father and son met in the court room during the hearing.

Hamza Shehbaz speaking to media warned the government not to introduce new trends of political victimization it had to face itself.

The government after failing to find anything had got Rana Sanaullah involved in a bogus narcotics case.

Both Shehbaz and son Hamza have been earlier indicted in the Ramzan sugar mills corruption reference. The father and son duo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in February had filed a reference against the two alleging that the former Punjab chief minister misused his authority by using public funds for the construction of a bridge to facilitate the Ramzan mills, owned by his sons.
