January 21, 2019
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Monday demanded to form parliamentary committee on Sahiwal alleged encounter by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). Addressing to the floor of National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif urged the government to reveal the facts behind the barbaric firing over a family in Sahiwal. “The NA session cannot complete the proceedings without debate on the Sahiwal tragedy. We will not stage a protest like sit-in on Mall Road but not to let the government rest until facts are brought to surface,” the opposition leader mentioned. He said that he does not want to do politics on the matter but no such example of barabarism can be found that has taken place in Sahiwal. He further said that the public wants to know why this barbaric incident happened. Shehbaz Sharif termed that the government changed statements one after another – first it was said that those killed in CTD encounter were terrorists and car’s windows were tinted but whole world saw massacre of innocent civilians. The opposition leader said every person was grieved over the tragic incident but Prime Minister Imran Khan posted just one message on Twitter during 24 hours. “The prime minister must give answer to the nation over Sahiwal incident,” he demanded. Shehebaz asked the government for recommendations of Sahiwal JIT to be made public and culprits should be awarded an exemplary punishment.
Pervaiz Ashraf says Sahiwal’s incompetency of govt
Speaking to the NA, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Raja Pervaiz Ashraf also took a jibe at the incumbent government, saying that the tragedy of Sahiwal is incompetency of the government. “Any innocent person will be killed terming him as terrorist,” he lamented.
Asif terms rulers responsible if culprits not being arrested
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) stalwart Khawaja Asif termed that first of all the innocent persons murdered and then spoke false statements to cover up their mistakes. “The security officials opened indiscriminate firing on the innocent family. In which state the culprits are not being arrested, the rulers are responsible for heinous crime,” he mentioned. Earlier on Sunday, the first information report (FIR) against 16 unknown Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials has been lodged under terrorism and murder sections at the Yousafwala police station. According to the details garnered, the FIR was lodged under 302 and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) on behalf of Khaleel’s brother Jaleel. In the FIR, ten officials were in uniform and six without uniform.
