ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) have reached consensus over the sharing of the power.

It was decided during a meeting participated by Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto.

According to the power-sharing formula, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and PPP president Asif Zardari will be the joint candidates for the slots of the prime minister and president respectively.

According to sources, the PPP will not be part of the government in the Centre and Punjab and it will only assume the constitutional slots.

Moreover, the PPP will also get the Senate chairmanship and as well as governorship in Sindh and Punjab. However, the National Assembly speaker and Sindh and Balochistan governor will be nominated by the PML-N.

Both parties will form the coalition government in Balochistan and the chief ministers of both parties will serve for the period of two and a half years each.

Talking to the media after the meeting, PML-N Shehbaz Sharif said that the PPP had not demanded any ministry and the ministries would be decided with consultation.

He said that they would jointly steer Pakistan out of crises. "We will accept from the core of heart if independent candidates show a majority," he added.

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto said that the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) present in the National Assembly had no required numbers. "We will get Shehbaz Sharif elected as the prime minister at the earliest and end division from the society," he added.
