ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the threats hurled by the government to the Election Commission of Pakistan.

In a statement on Friday, he said that the ministers' conversation regarding setting the institutions on fire is anti-state attitude.

"The government has no argument over the electronic voting machine, but a threat.

Meanwhile, PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz said that they had only criticized the negative characters, not the institutions. "There is no one to question the government which is threatening to set the institution on fire," she maintained.

PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the government wants to hold the elections, not the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Earlier, representatives of the government and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had exchanged hot words over the use of electronic voting machine during the Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs.
