NAB raids Shehbaz Sharif’s residences after he avoids appearance

LAHORE (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) raided the residences of Shehbaz Sharif in Model Town and Jati Umra after he did not turn up before the anti-corruption watchdog. After his failure to appear before the NAB, a team with a heavy contingent of police reached his residence at Model Town. The NAB officials remained at his residence for two hours and continue to ask about Shehbaz Sharif. Meanwhile, a large number of PML-N workers and leaders reached there and scuffled with the officials. They also chanted slogans against the NAB. Later, the NAB team raided his residence at Jati Umra. Earlier, Opposition Leader of National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif did not appear before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in assets beyond means and money laundering case. According to details, the opposition leader submitted his response instead of appearing before the anti-graft watchdog in person. Shehbaz Sharif decided to not appear before NAB after hearing of his bail plea got delayed from today to Wednesday. PML-N’s President filed bail plea in Lahore High Court (LHC) to avoid an arrest in assets beyond means and money laundering case. Yesterday, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has filed a bail plea in the Lahore High Court (LHC) due to fear of arrest in the assets beyond means and money laundering case. The opposition leader in the National Assembly approached the LHC seeking interim bail. In his plea, he took the stance that NAB might arrest him in a pending inquiry. “NAB made the case with malicious intentions as he has been declaring his assets regularly,” it added. The petition was filed through Advocate Amjad Pervaiz citing National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal and others as respondents. It also stated that Shehbaz Sharif started his business in 1972 and played an important role in agriculture, sugar and textile industries and joined politics in 1988 for the betterment of the society. The plea further reads that NAB launched inquiry with allegations of general nature, under political influence of the current government. “Was arrested in the same case in 2018 and fully cooperated with NAB,” it maintained.
