LAHORE (92 News) – Accountability Court Judge Najamul Hassan remanded Punjab former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for 10 days on Saturday. After the hearing, he was shifted to Lahore NAB office. He will again be presented in court on October 16. The prosecutor contended that Shehbaz Sharif had misused his powers and the NAB had concrete evidence against him. He said that Shehbaz Sharif’s act had caused a loss of Rs four billion to the national exchequer. The counsels for Shehbaz Sharif said that the NAB officials had misused their powers. Stringent security arrangements have been made on the occasion. The NAB had prayed the court to grant his 15-day remand. During the hearing, Shehbaz Sharif said that the case had been registered on political basis. “The corruption of a single penny could not be proved against me. I sacrificed my health and sleep. I have been given this reward for saving billions of rupees,” he maintained. On Friday, the NAB had arrested Shehbaz Sharif in the Ashiana Housing Scheme scandal. He had appeared before the NAB to record his statement. He, however, was arrested after he could not satisfy the NAB officials with regard to the Ashiana Housing scandal. He was arrested on the basis of disclosures made by former principal secretary to PM Fawad Hassan Fawad.
